The Best Double Buggy Strollers
A double buggy is perfect if you are expecting twins, or if you have two children of different ages. The best ones are simple to maneuver and handle rough surfaces and kerbs.
They also come with features such as large sun canopies with hoods that can be seen through and seats that can be adjusted.
1. Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double
The City Tour 2 Double stroller is the smallest model in the Baby Jogger range. It is designed to travel and fits through standard doors easily due to its slim and compact design. It's also one the lightest double buggies available that weighs just 14lbs when folded. It's ideal for travel with a newborn and toddler as you won’t exceed the allowances for luggage on airlines. It can also be folded up to the size of the size of a small travel bag which means you can put it in the back of your car.
It's easy to fold the Z-shape using one hand. Once you get used to it, it is small and takes only a few minutes. Our tester found the auto-lock a bit confusing, and since the handlebar doesn't lock into the position you push it into and it landed on her leg when she used it. The handlebar was a bit on the short side and especially with the large changing bag hanging off of it.
In contrast to other travel buggies that are lightweight, this doesn't skimp on features and is among the most comprehensive double strollers that are available. It's compatible with two carry cots (available separately) It also offers multiple recline positions, and a UV 50+ canopy. You can even add an additional bassinet to one or both seats to transform it into a travel set-up.
The four tires made of rubber are great for pavements and urban terrain. However, they are not made for off-roading. They had trouble with long grass and gravel and there was not enough clearance between the wheel bracket and the wheel which meant that mud could get stuck easily. Our testers loved this buggy, and it was able to climb pretty dirt hills.
2. iCandy Orange
The iCandy Orange is a premium double buggy that is the ultimate in style and versatility. It is a must-have for parents who want a stylish high-end double buggy that will last. The option of adding an integrated ride for an older sibling is also available.
This 2021 update has few improvements, including improved manoeuvrability, a larger shopping basket, and a revamped bumper bar with leatherette cover. The seats have a moulded feel and are very comfortable. They're also adjustable so they can be placed to meet the needs of siblings. iCandy have introduced the first-ever 'cinema' seating design enabling parents to keep eye contact with their children. They can be adjusted so that they face either the parent or the world.
It's a heavier buggie in tandem, but it's a breeze to operate and drive, especially on smooth pavements. It is stable in double and single mode, and even on sloping ground. It's not as easy to drive on public transport, however, as it requires more than one hand to grip the handlebar. It's also a little heavy and will not fit in a standard car boot with the seat on, however this can be overcome with thoughtful planning. iCandy has included an infant footmuff and a changing bag with the cost, so it's an excellent value package for new parents.

Its swivel front wheel and four-wheel suspension enable it to cope with slightly rough or uneven terrain.

It features the one-click fold that secures it and is compatible a wide range Joie infant car seat. It also has a spacious basket and comfortable seats for both children. The only issue is that the front seat doesn't recline completely, which could be a problem for infants. However, it's an excellent option for families looking for an inexpensive and light stroller.

5. Nipper Double V5
The Nipper Double V5 from Out 'n' About is an updated version of the award-winning all-terrain buggie. It's made for siblings or twins, and features independent reclined seats, compatibility carrycots and a lightweight frame that makes it easy to maneuver on uneven terrain.
The adjustable handle's height and rear wheel suspension offer the most comfortable ride for children up to 22kg. The tough pneumatic tyres, that are easy to clean, also give a smooth ride while running. The 360-degree swivel can be locked to make it easier to manoeuvre around the town. The one-pedal easy lock brake is also easy to use.
Our testers noted that the Nipper Double was incredibly easy to manoeuvre, even when taking on uneven ground or when turning swiftly in a busy street. They were also amazed by the fact that both seats recline independently. This means they can be adjusted to suit individual needs - ideal for napping.
The hoods were also easy to adjust for sun or wind protection. They did not offer the same coverage as Baby Jogger City Mini Hoods. It's probably worth carrying an additional rain cover in the case.
Overall, our test participants were impressed by the Nipper double's ability to let them take their twin daughters Sydney and Lyla to all sorts of adventures. From seeing wildlife in the forest or rushing to a park for a playdate, they loved it. Our testers were also amazed by how comfortable and spacious the two seats are. There's plenty of room to stretch out for toddlers who are growing. Our testers did mention that the lack of a parent-facing seating and the inability of using car seats in this buggy were a problem and they would like to see more storage space for shopping and other equipment.
